The Rande bridge, located in the Ría de Vigo and linking Redondela with Moaña, has been "finalist in the IABSE Awards for Outstanding Structure 2019" (Finalist of the IABSE Outstanding Structure Award 2019) awarded by IABSE (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering) immediately after the Mersey Bridge (Liverpool), followed by the Mukogawa Bridge (Japan) after the recent reform carried out by the ACS group.
During 2019, the Rande Bridge was also awarded the "Best Project 2019 Prize" for its expansion, granted by the jury of the non-profit association ITS: Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Also last year was awarded with the "Acqueducto de Segovia 2018 Prize" of Civil Engineers Channels and Ports with the Road Foundation for the expansion of the Rande Bridge.
In 1979 he received the "European Prize for the most outstanding metallic construction 1979" by the ECCS (European Convention for Constructional Steelwork)
The cable-stayed bridge of Rande was designed by Engineer Fabrizio de Miranda, Florencio del Pozo and Alfredo Passaro with almost 700 m in length and two pillars of more than 125 m. Open to the public in the year 1981 and built between 1973 and 1977. Through which more than 50,000 cars pass annually, reaching more than 60,000 in the summer season, so the works of its extension began in 2015 ending in 2018 .
