Critical raw materials in Galicia

In the province of Ourense, there is an important project related to lithium mining, in the Beariz area. In the Doade-Beariz mine.

This deposit is key to European plans to secure the supply of critical raw materials, such as lithium, which is essential for the manufacture of electric batteries and other technologies as well as cobalt and nickel. The Doade-Beariz lithium mine has been selected as a strategic project by the European Commission,

Along with them, titanium and wolfram, raw boron, gallium... are used in defense technologies, solar panels...etc.

Another lithium extraction project in the “Cañaveral” deposit, in Cáceres, could start soon, although it is currently in the approval process. It depends on both the Spanish authorities and EU environmental regulations.

Two Galician hackers: Antonio Fernandes from Vigo and Roberto Fernández de Arbo
challenged each other to find security flaws on the NASA website and both found them by reporting them to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

For this they were congratulated in a letter from the Mary W. Jackson headquarters of NASA, based in Washington, and they corrected the errors that could have led to the theft of user credentials to access websites.

Another security error was in access to session cookies through an error page. Both have been corrected.

The Ríos heroes

It happened in Vigo, in August 1929, that while enjoying a day at the beach, the children Enrique Lago and Luis Puga saw a Dornier 14 seaplane coming from Lisbon anchored at the ETEA refueling that suddenly burst into flames.

The young men, not caring about the risk to their lives, took a nearby boat and rushed to help the men who were escaping from the fire.

From the water, the commander of engineers Hidalgo begged them to help a comrade who did not know how to swim and was still in the seaplane without daring to leave it because he had the flames at his back and in front of him he was sure to drown.

There the boys of only 11 and 13 years old came rescuing him and saving his life.

On October 23, 2029, the Mayor of Lavadores, Governor of the Plaza and C.F. Camilo Molins.
