The mamoas or burials funerary of the Neolithic (fourth and third century BC) are sites of the megalithic culture present in Galicia. They are formed by a tomb covered with dolmens and in turn covered with earth and stones in a circular shape. From her breast-shaped appearance comes her name. Inside are pots, arrows, necklaces and other accessories that were intended to help the deceased in his life in the afterlife. They are usually on top of a mountain or elevation.

The mamoa da Casa dos Mouros is one of the largest and best preserved, it is located in Vigo, near the zoo. Another famous mamoa is that of Mámoa do Rei de Castiñeiras near Lake Castiñeiras also in the province of Pontevedra. A set of them can be found in the parish of San Cibrao de Lama Má inOrense are the Mámoas do Burato do Haber.

The oldest mamoa found is that of A Chousa Nova, in Silleda, Pontevedra. From the seventh century BC, according to the test of carbon 14, even older than many Egyptian pyramids.
