A few days before the start of the new school year, the rules of going back to school in Spain have resulted in more frequent hand washing, classroom ventilation, as well as the use of mandatory masks from primary school. However, the recommended ratio in classrooms will not be reduced, from an average of 20 or more children per classroom, while in any other meeting in Spain the capacity would be limited to 10 people. School directors and teachers are forced to seek solutions with the responsibility of accommodating students of any stage with a safe distance as best as possible in classes that do not have the capacity to do so.

They are especially concerned about the bubble group or stable coexistence group in childhood stages in which children will not even have a mask or social distance. In all cases outside of school, these children do not live alone but with their families or caregivers, with which the group will be extended to all people with whom the children have contact outside of school hours, transmitting a possible contagion into or out the school. In addition to the possible contact that students have even from the same school in extracurricular activities, recess or other parts of the facilities.

The measures varied according to the place, in other countries they have chosen:

USA: The measures and schedules depending on the cities in a country in which the schooling of children is not compulsory and children can be educated from their homes.

It will depend on the cities, so in New York they are opting for semi-face-to-face classes, alternating face-to-face classes with others online to accommodate fewer children with a safe distance, in other cities such as Chicago the online mode has been opted for.

Norway: In Scandinavian countries, schooling is not compulsory until age 7. In Norway, the number of students per classroom has been limited to 15. Norwegian schools have been classified into three levels with three lights: green, yellow or red light. The red light allows them to lower the ratio and schedules. The yellow light allows to change the measures of social distancing and the green light allows them to act normally.

Iceland: Social distance prevails in one of the countries with the fewest inhabitants and with groups of 5 children per teacher in their classes. In addition, in these countries, spending the most time outdoors in their schools prevails and they go to school compulsory from the age of 7.

France: Mandatory mask from 11 years old in schools and greater disinfection.

Charlie Hebdo, one of the most critical French magazines, wonders if the children will finish school this year with the following cover:

The Redondela International Puppet Festival will be held from September 1 to 6 in this city. A ticket is required to access the shows, both in the street and in the hall, to avoid crowds and respect the safety distance, so there are limited capacity in all their performances.

This festival has more than 20 companies from different countries, although in previous editions it is held in the month of May this has been postponed until now due to the special conditions of this year. It will be held with all the agaist Covid guarantees.

Just as the Corona virus has all countries in check, Smallpox (a serious infectious disease) did it centuries ago ravaging humanity.

A disease without asymptomatic because all those infected showed large welts after a few days, which allowed them to be detected and isolated, as well as their contacts. It left 30% with sequelae such as blindness or sterility and another 30% perished.

Thanks to the inoculation of a similar variety: bovine pox was able to immunize the population. So until it was eradicated in 1977 thanks to Edward Jenner, who discovered the vaccine.

However, like the Europeans before, they had brought the disease to America and indigenous peoples, Aztecs suffered it ... Now they proposed to bring the vaccine and help eradicate the disease in America but they could not carry it due to the long duration of the boat trip . Until they came up with the idea of carrying the vaccine into people on a human chain. Thus, 22 children from the Coruña orphanage were the "recipients" of that vaccine in charge of keeping it alive until it reached America and from there to the Philippines and China in the so-called "Balmis Expedition." On a journey that only the norms and ethics of other times would allow to be carried out. Testimony and homage to this, the names and ages of these children have been inscribed on a balcony of the Casa del Hombre, Domus de la Coruña.

Other devastating diseases, already overcome, were the Spanish Flu, the Plague of Justinian, the Russian Plague or the Bubonic Plague.

Vigo is an unbeatable city to live good experiences. From sailing to paradisiacal islands to enjoying the traces of history reflected in the Castros.

Sail to the Cies Islands by public boat or private prior authorization. Since 2002 the islands of San Martín, Monteagudo and Faro have been part of the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia. And currently they choose to be declared a World Heritage Site. Its beaches with crystalline waters and white sands, such as that of Rhodes, have nothing to envy to others more distant. In the port area there are 3 shipping companies that sail to them with departure from Vigo and Cangas all year round and also from Bayonne, Sanxenxo and Portonovo in July and August.

  1. Cies islands

  2. Exercise in the mountains that surround the city such as the Vixiador Park where you can go hiking, cycling or having a barbecue. The neighboring hill of Madroa crowned by a restaurant whose views of the estuary are privileged. All this located in the Candeán neighborhood.
  3. Go up to Monte da Guía where the hermitage Nuestra Señora de las Nieves is located. It will also allow us to enjoy beautiful views of Vigo. In addition to being able to enjoy the beaches located in the Teis neighborhood such as A Punta or Chapela and its promenade along the sea where you can enjoy the best fresh seafood.
Visit Castillo del Castro Located in the center of Vigo on Mount Castro. In its upper part is the Castillo del Castro that preserves part of its walls, gates and cannons. A place that is worth knowing for its charm and conservation. You can also visit the reconstruction of the Castro (old Galician house) that is in the lower part. In addition, there is one of the best viewpoints of the Ría de Vigo. The Castle's hours are from July to September (Tuesday to Friday) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  4. Views from Monte del Castro

  5. Visit the Museo do Mar de Bouzas one of the neighborhoods of Vigo, Bouzas receives the title of town of Carlos III. It is a fishing village with access to the sea and a beautiful beach in O Adro where you can enjoy a beautiful promenade. In it there is a marina. Numerous typical bars and restaurants allow you to take a break and enjoy their wines and tapas. Here is the Museum of the Sea, small, quiet and not very crowded where Galicia's great relationship with the sea is shown. There is an aquarium and a castro. It has a cafeteria and activities on weekends for the little ones, which is perfect for them, in addition to being located next to beaches such as La Fuente or Samil.
  6. Remains of forts in the Museum of the Sea
  7. Enjoy the Casco Vello. The old part of the city has many corners either in the Plaza de la Constitución or in the Calle de las Ostras (whose name indicates where we can taste them). Annual venue of the Villa de Vigo Reconquest Party, the Children's Reconquest and the Retapas gastronomic contest. Within walking distance we find Principe Street and its shopping area. In addition to the Marco y el Sireno Museum, an emblematic sculpture of Vigo located in the Plaza del Sol.

And let us remember in these times of pandemic everything fondly!

Caravans

Caravans are in fashion! After confinement, safe vacations are imposed. Whether in places with few inhabitants or traveling in the vehicle itself and what better if it is a caravan or motorhome (with its own motor or not) and allows you to carry out everything you need with you.

In Galicia there are many places to visit with their own charm:

_The Fragas Natural Park of the Eume river in the province of La Coruña where the Galician vegetation breaks through. Its abundant oak and chestnut forests coexist with many amphibians, foxes or hawks.

In it there are also two suspension bridges and the monasteries of Monfero and Caaveiro, the latter built to be a refuge for the anchorites who lived there in the 1st century and of which stays are still preserved.

_Thermal route in the Miño river. In the province of Orense there are several thermal stations: Muiño das Veigas, Outariz and Chavasqueira. The As Burgas thermal pool and the Tinteiro fountain. The Outariz and Chavasqueira hot springs have payment areas with a box office, while the others are public.

Its origin is given by the rain water that filters through the ground being heated by thermal sources and returning to the surface with a temperature that ranges between 60 and 66 degrees.

These waters are supposed to have healing properties for bone diseases such as arthritis and rheumatism. Similar to Icelandic geysers.

Sponsored: Safety in caravan driving.

_ Catedrales beach or Aguas Santas beach in the province of Lugo. This beach has sand corridors between shales or numerous rocky arches under which you can stroll at low tide. From its impressive appearance comes the nickname of Cathedral of the Sea. For some years, the daily quota of visitors has been restricted, being necessary to register in advance in order to visit them.

Another option this unusual summer of 2020, especially in places in central Spain or interior provinces where the absence of sea and heat induce new ideas, is the rental of private pools, to enjoy this summer safely.
